Ryan began playing drums in 1996 at the age of 11 taking private lessons and participating in school bands. A military brat, he moved relentlessly during his childhood, finally settling in Colorado for his high school and college years. In 2007 Ryan earned a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Colorado under the supervision of Dr. Douglas Walter. During college Ryan had the opportunity to play with several rock, funk, and metal bands and the Niwot Tiberline Symphony Orchestra. After graduation Ryan joined Denver based Havok to record their debut cd which was released in 2009 on Candlelight Records. In 2010 Ryan moved with his wife Rose to Washington State where he set up a private teaching practice around Bellingham as well as landing a teaching job at Noisy Neighbor music store in Lynden. He currently teaches drums, cooks, and occaisionally pole vaults while expanding his studio musican's resume with the local talent.
